89b1afb48f Change Unix build system to not use debug build any more. 
Remove "d" suffix from the libraries and the BUILD variable which is not used
any longer.

Also ignore (but still support, for compatibility) --debug option in wx-config.

6c254c5203 Perform Apple SDK tests for Mac ports only. 
Fix after changes of r61832: SDK checks should be done for Mac ports only as
they are useless under the other systems and break configure because sw_vers
is Mac-only and unsurprisingly using it results in errors under the other
systems:

/usr/local/src/wx/HEAD/configure: line 18215: sw_vers: command not found
checking if C compiler works with SDK/version options... configure: error: no.
Try a different SDK

8e6b680de8 If gcc-4.2+ is specified for compiling OS X Carbon or 10.4 compatilbility is specified, switch to gcc-4.0 to avoid configuration conflicts. Also, do not default to 10.4 compatibility when building OS X Cocoa so that we can get 64-bit builds on Snow Leopard by default.

89a7e1ff98 Added wxLOCALE_DATE/TIME_FMT support to wxLocale::GetInfo(). 
- Implement for POSIX and Win32, TODO for OS X
- Use this instead of ad hoc code in wxDateTime::ParseFormat()

ddd121d7b6 use install_name_tool when cross-compiling too: it's not very useful if the build machine can't execute host binaries but it might be possible to do this (e.g. using an emulator) and it doesn't hurt anyhow

584f0a5dd7 Add in some support for separate CXXFLAGS and OBJCXXFLAGS. 
Add -DWX_PRECOMP to CXXFLAGS instead of CPPFLAGS.
Combined with very slight Bakefile changes to use OBJCXXFLAGS, this greatly improves the wxCocoa build.

99d4fdfdcc always return just "$CXX -o" from wx-config --ld instead of returning the

b4e05bddd7 Implement --with-macosx-sdk[=SDK] and --with-macosx-version-min[=VER]. 
Deprecate --enable-universal_binary but support it by adding the -arch flags
as before and automatically setting the SDK using the new --with-macosx-sdk.

1f7e12cc26 Restore AC_CHECK_HEADERS in preference to AC_CHECK_HEADER so that the HAVE_* 
defines will be generated when needed.  This fixes breakage caused by 44703.
Only usage where HAVE_* macro is in setup.h.in or was used by configure
itself (e.g. HAVE_X11_XLIB_H) is changed.

6e198e97ec Rewrote configure --enable/with options handling: 
1. There is no more need to set DEFAULT_wxUSE_XXX for all options (although
   it's still taken into account if it is set), use WX_ARG_DISABLE/WITHOUT for
   the options which are enabled by default instead (and WX_ARG_ENABLE/WITH
   for those which are disabled): this makes configure messages more
   understandable (this closes bug 1038676)
2. Added --disable-all-features option which allows to disable everything
   which can be disabled at once in order to build the absolutely minimal
   wx library
3. General cleanup

afc89ff455 Added --enable-extended_rtti configure switch (defaults to disabled). 
Fix compilation when WXINTL_NO_GETTEXT_MACRO is defined.
  Added wx/flags.h to installed files.
  Fix XTI compilation after wxString changes.
  Fix 'virtual functions but non-virtual destructor' GCC warnings.
  Minimal XTI definition for wxOwnerDrawnComboBox (cut'n'paste
from wxComboBox, will need to be completed).
  Requires rerunning bakefile and autoconf.
